This page is dedicated to pre war car emblems and interesting post war emblems I want to present to you the most beautiful and the most rarest emblems on this page. To my knowledge the first enameled radiator emblem was on the Georges Richard1903. From this time on thousands of these nice artifacts were mounted on the radiator to identify the car. THE THOMAS FLYER radiator emblem

THE THOMAS Motor Car Company ( Buffalo N.Y.) started car production in 1902. At this time a lot of car makers still added the word "THE" to the name. The name THOMAS FLYER was applied to the cars from 1905 onwards [Georgano].
In 1908 the THOMAS FLYER won the New York to Paris race before the German PROTOS automobile.
To celebrate this triumph they created a three - dimensional globe as radiator emblem, showing the continents. Even the route is marked !
THOMAS FLYER filed this trademark in April 1910. In 1918 they closed the factory.
You have to look years for this lovely emblem.

I started collecting radiator emblems in 1976. I remember this clearly because I had to give my first car to the local scrapyard. It was a still nice looking Volkswagen squareback. The scrapyard director was interested in my car and I was interested in the emblems of all cars in the field. So a deal was made. And I went home with a bucket full of emblems. Later I've been on swap meets all around the world. I started buying emblems on Ebay in 1999. From this time on prices became comparable for the first time. This made it possible for me to invent a five-star system to categorize emblems based on their rarity and value.This table is applicable for original emblems in a good but not perfect shape. Not for reproductions.

	A common pre-war emblem from a mass producer like Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler etc. Value: 0$ - 50$
	Still a well known car but no high production quantities. Value: 50$ - 200$
	Here it starts with the highly collectible emblems. Value: 200$ - 500$
	A very rare and very desirable emblem. You have to look years to find one of these. Value: 500$ - 800$
	An ultra rare piece. Prices are sometimes 800$ and more.
