MERCER radiator emblem collection |
The MERCER was named after the Mercer County, New Jersey, where it was made from 1910 to 1925. The most famous MERCER of all was the type 35 Raceabout of 1911 [Georgano]. This car had no enameled radiator emblem yet but a brass emblem.
To my knowledge there have been 4 different enameled radiator emblems. Here you see all four.
The type 22-70 appeared in 1915; the type 22-72 appeared in 1916 and the type 22-73 in 1917.
So it is easy to date the emblems.
Their best year was 1916 with 1,431 cars sold. In 15 years the produced about 12,800 cars
