FRANKLIN / USA

In 1902 Herbert H. Franklin together with  the  engineer John Wilson founded the FRANKLIN AUTOMOBILE COMPANY in Syracuse N.Y.
They built the world´s most successful air-cooled cars before WW 1.
Their slogan was: AURA VINCIT (that means: "Air conquers")
In 1902 they sold 13 cars. Their best year was 1929 when they produced 14,432 cars.
In 1933 they offered a luxury V-12 engine, only up to 200 cars were built with this engine.  The next year FRANKLIN went bankrupt.

To my knowledge the first enamelled car emblem was mounted on the hood  in 1921, before there were scripts only.

Here  is the first of 10 different FRANKLIN emblems. It looks like an emblem for an electric car but FRANKLIN never built them.

  1. I have a FRANKLIN emblem with AURA VINCIT slogan necklace, silver with black enamel. Approximately how much is this worth?
