FREEMAN MOTOR CAR COMPANY / USA

FREEMAN MOTOR CAR / Omaha / USA  (1920)

The FREEMAN Motor Car Company was founded in Omaha / Nebraska in 1920 by F.L. Freeman and others. The Kimes/Clark Standard Catalog of American cars states that they announced plans to assemble 50 passenger cars and 500 trucks that same year in Cleveland.

Even though it probably never went into mass production, this is very interesting information, because the striking similarity between the FREEMAN emblem and the WINTON SIX emblem immediately catches the viewer's eye.

Take a look at this similarity. It's unclear why FREEMAN had the WINTON emblem copied. It could have been a nod to the manufacturing location in Cleveland, but it might also have simply been a cost consideration. It's also unclear why the WINTON emblem—which was already about 5 years old at that point—served as the template.

twins in style and size,  but why?
