FISCHER -  WAGEN A. G. / ZÜRICH / SWITZERLAND   (1908 - 1919)

Martin Fischer founded FISCHER - WAGEN A.G. in Zurich in 1908. After the end of World War I, regular production was never resumed.

M. Fischer developed his own slide valve engine as well as a gearbox with internal gearing. This is shown on the emblem below. The slide valve engine was also depicted on the emblem but in words.

So you can read on the emblem:  “VENTILLOS” in German on the left and “SANS SOUPAPES” in French on the right side. I don't know of any other emblem that features words in two different languages—do you know of one?

 

The two holes are original. You can tell it by the rings around the holes, which prevent the enamel from cracking during assembly.

In 1913, the French magazine OMNIA featured illustrations of radiators from various brands, and that's where I found the FISCHER radiator. The emblem on the radiator is the oval emblem shown above, even though you can see almost only the inner circle:

 

 This beautiful, colorful poster advertised the Fischerwagen before WWI:

 

In total, fewer than 300 vehicles were built over a 10-year period, making a FISCHER emblem extremely rare and a highlight of my collection.
