Before building cars this company was in the birdcage business (look at the birds on the emblems !) . The first car was offered in 1901.
The Pierce-Great-Arrow won the Glidden Trial in 1905, the name PIERCE - ARROW being introduced in 1909. The cars of 1914 - 1923 were very large and expensive and prestigious.
In 1923, a smaller and less expensive car (the Model 80) was introduced , but an unusual deficit forced a merger with STUDEBAKER in 1929. Their best year was 1929 with more than 10,000 cars built.
