NOBEL YORK / FULDAMOBIL / BRISTOL / UK

NOBEL 200  ( Licence FULDAMOBIL ) / BRISTOL / UK ( 1958 - 1962 )

The NOBLE YORK INDUSTRIES Ltd.  bought a license from Elektromaschinenbau Fulda GmbH / Germany  that allowed them to build the FULDAMOBIL.

The production of automobiles began both at a factory in Bristol and at Short Brothers & Harland Ltd. in Newtownards /Northern Ireland in 1958. The vehicles were offered both complete and as a kit. A production volume of 400 vehicles per week was planned. but never reached.

The model was called NOBEL 200, which largely corresponded to the Fuldamobil S-7. There was a choice of three-wheelers, which offered tax and registration advantages, and four-wheelers. A steel chassis formed the basis. A closed body made of fiberglass was mounted on it, which was manufactured by the Bristol Aeroplane Company. A single-cylinder engine from Fichtel & Sachs with a displacement of 191 cm³ and an output of 10 hp was mounted in the middle of the vehicle and drove the rear wheel(s).

Production ended in 1962. A total of around 1000 vehicles were produced so all emblems are very rare.

On top of the emblem you can see a tower. It is not the tower of Bristol neither the Cabot tower of York, which are looking completely different, but probably a fantasy tower.

You can read the slogan: TRAVEL IN STYLE FOR HALF A PENNY A MILE

There was a licence to the company Autos Nobel Sud Americana from Chile, which produced similar vehicles and marketed them as Nobel Chile. Their emblem was very similar to the emblem of the German Fuldamobil:

On this South - American NOBEL badge you see the crest of the German town Fulda !
