CID / LYON / FRANCE ( 1912 - 1914 )
The company was founded in 1911/1912 as the successor to COTTEREAU, which had been established in 1898 by brothers Louis and Henri Cottereau. Following a name change in 1911, the brand name became CID, which stood for CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIELLES DIJON.

The first sales brochure I'm aware of features a round emblem. The brochure dates from 1912, so it's safe to assume that this is the first CID emblem.

Here comes the famous 1-cylinder CID engine. This motor is a BUCHET design and has also been used by numerous other manufacturers; according to the internet, for example, by BARRÉ, DUMAS, PASSY - THELLIER, VAN LANGENDONCK et some more.

It is unclear how many vehicles CID built over the three years, but it cannot have been very many.
