original AUSTIN radiator emblem
The American AUSTIN was known as the Highway King. Despite an output of 50 cars or less units per year it was something of a pioneer in a number of ways [Georgano]. This company lived from 1903 to 1920 [Kimes, Clark]. The model "Highway King" was offered from 1916 to 1920. Just 10 Austins were produced in 1920. About 1,000 cars were made altogether [Georgano], so you have to look years for this nice emblem. |

As it is so rare there is a repro made by Harry Pulfer in the sixties (please look to my extra label Harry Pulfer). The original emblem is from the Lee Roy Hartung collection that was up for auction in 2011.
Only if you see both emblems it is easy to recognize the original: the size and the colors are different:
