ELCAR / USA

The Pratt brothers - William B. and George B. decided to stop the Pratt car production in 1915.
Instead they invented the Elkhart Carriage & Motor Car Co. that  produced automobiles under the new name ELCAR. The first Elcar was offered with a four-cylinder  Lycoming engine at 795 $.                                                                The slogan was: Looks like a thousand $, Rides like a thousand $.
They sold 415 cars in 1916. The next generation of Elcars had a six-cylinder Continental engine.
In 1925 the company was sold to former AUBURN executives. They introduced a  Lycoming engine straight-eight in 1925.   Production peak  was in 1925 with 1,981 cars. Production ceased by 1931.

  1. Very nicely done profile on this relatively obscure defunct auto manufacture's emblem. Thanks!
