COVENTRY PREMIER / UK

 COVENTRY PREMIER / UK   ( 1912 - 1923 )

COVENTRY PREMIER was an English automobile and cyclcar manufacturer based in Coventry active from 1912 - 1923.

The company can trace its origins back to 1876 when the Hillman and Herbert company was founded to produce bicycles. William Hillman founded Hillman in 1927. Hillman and Herbert changed the name of the company to PREMIER CYCLE in 1892 and started to manufacture motorcycles in 1908 and cyclecars in 1912.

The company changed its name PREMIER to COVENTRY PREMIER Ltd in November 1914.  In 1921 COVENTRY PREMIER was purchased by SINGER.

In ten years they sold about  500 three-wheeler and about 1,200   conventional vehicles  ( source: www.automobilia8545
