VELOX / ZEESEN / GERMANY / SWEDEN ( 1921 - 1924 )
The career of the Swedish VELOX began in Berlin / Germany. A small car called the IPE was launched in Berlin, which sold reasonably well. The IPE was also sold under the name LINDCAR, a virtually identical vehicle. In 1921, the Schütte-Lanz company situated in Zeesen near Berlin, had become famous for building zeppelins. The company was looking for new fields of production and in this connection concluded a contract with VELOCITAS, a company founded in Stockholm in 1921 specifically for the production and distribution of VELOX vehicles, which were manufactured especially for the Swedish market.
The emblem for the Swedish market consistently shows the colors of the Swedish flag in the middle: blue and yellow ( photo Denny Hafemann) |

one of the rare contemporry photos ( collection Dietrich Conrad ) |
Until recently, it was not known that a VELOX vehicle had survived. There was only one drawing of this emblem, which was made by Gustaf Moeller back in the 1920s. Gustaf lived near the ferry port in Helsingborg and drew the emblems of the waiting cars there. What a great hobby that still helps and delights us a hundred years later:
Drawing by Gustaf Moeller. However, he did not do the correct research on the vehicle he saw. The vehicle does not come from Prague (PRAG) and the stated construction period is also incorrect. |
If you have a close look you can clearly see the specific VELOX emblem ( photo collection Dietrich Conrad) |
There must have been a german version of the emblem because on photos you can seen an emblem with black letters on a white background, but I have never seen such an emblem in reality. May be you can offer me such an emblem or a photo.
