DARMONT / COURBEVOIE / FRANCE ( 1919 - 1939 )
Roger Darmont
began importing Morgan tricycles manufactured in England during the
First World War. After the end of the war, he and his brother André
Darmont founded the automobile production company in Courbevoie /
France. He acquired the license to build the Morgan three-wheeler in
France. He marketed it under the name Darmont-Morgan with slight
technical modifications. Later, only the name DARMONT was used. Over the
years, Darmont launched three more models on the market. The V Junior,
introduced in 1935, remained the only four-wheeled Darmont to go into
series production until the end. At the beginning of the Second World
War, Roger Darmont had to file for bankruptcy.
The
following emblem was hard to identify because the name of the car
manufacturer cannot be read. Instead, it just says “ETOILE DE FRANCE” ( =
star of France ).
So this emblem could come from anywhere, for
example from the aviation industry. However, it is the type designation
of the DARMONT Etoile de France, which was produced in 1933 to 1937.
