INTER-STATE / USA

INTER - STATE radiator emblem
The INTER - STATE had two lives. The first began in October of 1908 when Thomas F. Hart of Muncie announced the winner of the contest he had staged to name his new car, and the INTER-STATE Automobile Company was born [Kimes, Clark]. In 1914 the firm was reorganized as INTER-STATE Motor company. The best year was 1917 with 1,413 cars sold. In 1918 the last INTER-STATE was built.
In 11 years a little more than 8,000 cars were produced.

On top you see the first INTER-STATE emblem, when the name was still AUTOMOBILE COMPANY.
